In an ongoing process of educating my readers, first let me say that. This is a good question, although I am going to spend a little time on ink underprint terminology.
The first term is the ink term. Now, to the naked eye, ink and tint look pretty much the same. Both are liquid and both are printed with an inkjet printer. In our industry UV Ink Cleaner , printers are typically wide-format, maxing out at around 124 inches, or just over 10 feet.
However, the printing machine, or inkjet printer UV,
does not see ink and dye the same way, and they cannot be interchanged. Once a printer is printing dye or ink without a downtime, since that lines are removed and the like. I can’t say what is “similar” as I have never seen anyone convert an ink-to-dye or dye-to-ink printer.
Inkjet printer ink is based on the CMYK color spectrum, which stands for Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black, and prints yellow first, then magenta UV inks, then cyan, and finally black. I’ve often wondered why it wasn’t called the YMCK. But maybe people would have mistaken it for the YMCA, who knows.
An inkjet printer sprays fine dots of color, typically 300 dpi (dots per inch) up to 1440 dpi (unusual because the print speed is much slower and therefore more expensive UV Ink Convert , and for most prints commercials, the viewing distance makes it win I don’t see minor glitches that may be apparent at lower dpi.
Inkjet ink is printed on the surface of an item, such as vinyl banner material or vinyl decal material. And chemically “bites into” the surface of those materials and simply dries onto the surface of the vinyl. With the help heat and airflow, or an ultra-violet curing system that is built into or added to the printer.
When converted to a dye-sublimation printer, an inkjet printer doesn’t need UV
high-dpi printing to make a fabulous print because the dye is printed. On a treated paper called transfer paper as a mirror image.
Once the image is printed, the dye dries quickly on the paper, then is bonded with a polymer-based fabric, usually polyester, and moved to a heated pressure roller AM.CO.ZA.. As the media and paper are carefully fed through the rollers, several things happen. First, the dye turns into gas. Simultaneously, the heat causes the cells of the polymer-based fabric or coating to expand and open. The pressure from the rollers forces the gaseous dye into the open pores, sublimating the dye into the pores of the fabric, hence the term dye sublimation.
As you can see, inks are used similarly but differently to sublimation dyes. The dye becomes part of the actual fabric, while the ink can usually be removed from the surface of what is printed with harsh chemicals.
With dye-sublimation, the color also diffuses like a gas UV Inks for Sale, so instead of the dot pattern you see with a magnifying glass if you inspect a digital print, with dye-sublimation you will see a continuous-tone print, like a photography, because the dots that were printed on the transfer paper, when turned to gas, no longer retain the dot pattern, but a smooth transition color to the next shade, therefore the dye-sublimation makes
